BTCCSquare news:

Ghana is making significant strides in regulating its cryptocurrency sector as the Bank of Ghana (BOG) prepares to introduce a comprehensive licensing regime for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). By August 15, 2025, all VASPs operating in the country must register with the central bank, marking a pivotal shift from the previous stance where cryptocurrencies were neither recognized nor regulated.

The Bank of Ghana has established a dedicated digital assets unit to oversee the regulatory process, signaling a broader acceptance of crypto within the national financial system. Governor Johnson Asiama emphasized the dual objectives of revenue generation and currency stabilization during recent remarks in Washington, D.C. A draft regulatory framework, including anti-money laundering (AML) compliance measures, is expected to be presented to Parliament by year-end.
